The Mississippi Chambre Music Guild was formed the summer of 2014 to fill a gap in the musical art world of Central Mississippi. The chambre music repertory of 18th century through the present is available for small instrumental and sometimes vocal ensembles to perform. Our theme UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL: music the way it was meant to be heard, clearly defines this genre. It means sitting close to the performers and empathetically becoming a part of their ensemble as a listener.
MCMG presents international, national and regional professional musical artists as well as provides venues for community amateurs to perform in concert and play and sing in homes, engaging in chamber music’s inherent enjoyment. We strive to educate students of the aesthetic and artistic values of this art form.
The Mississippi Chambre Music Guild very successfully presented its first concert the fall of 2014. The Inaugural Piano Trio performed a thrilling concert featuring one of Felix Mendelssohn’s trios. In our first year, three more concerts were presented for the public and a Board of Directors was formed to share responsibility for the continued success of the MCMG.
